Today, I have launched this new site. I’ve purchased this domain back in 2009 and sort of neglected it. Well, I did try to pretty it up a little bit and turned it into some sort of "lifestream", a central place where it aggregates all of my activities in and outside of the interwebs. On the other hand, Dawghouse Design Studio has been around since 2005, but I had never been actively blogging since around 2 years ago. I used to write articles, tutorials, roundups at least once or twice a week, but there came a time when I could no longer keep up with writing. I felt obligated to come up with one or two posts per week to keep the advertisers happy, but I sort of got tired of it. But I had great fun and the tutorials and freebies were all very well-received (thanks to you guys who have been following me all this time), but I wanted a place where I can write about non-design-related stuff. With the words "design studio" attached to it, I felt restricted to just write about “design”. I want to be able to write about anything and everything under the sun. I wanted a little bit of wiggle room.
However, I’m not doing away with Dawghouse Design Studio. Dawghouse Design Studio will always be "me" so I’ll continue to keep it up and running. Over the years, I’m amazed at how much it has evolved – from this little tribute site for my dog and a place where I shared cartooning stuff called “Dawghouse Cartoons” to something that has actually helped bring food to the table. It is a huge part of my career as designer (with emphasis on huge). I literally never had to desperately scour for jobs. The jobs found me. So I’ll think of this as moving to a new home while still keeping my other house. This isn’t goodbye for Dawghouse Design Studio. It’s just “see you later”.
